Bangalore, March 06, 2023: HDFC Bank, India’s leading bank opened its 425th branch in the state.  The opening of new semi urban branch at Ghataprabha, Gokak Taluk, Belagavi district in Karnataka makes it the leading private sector bank in the state to touch this landmark. The branch was inaugurated by HDFC Bank’s MD & CEO Mr Sashidhar Jagdishan.


Ghataprabha is a village on banks of the river by the same name. The reservoir at Ghataprabha provides irrigation to about 1.3 million hectares of land. It is well known for its vegetables which are distributed to the northern part of the state and also a few cities in Maharastra and Goa. It enjoys good rail, road connectivity and its economy is based on agriculture and retail.


The launch of this branch is in line with the banks’ plan to increase footprint in tier III / IV locations of the state. About one third branches in the state are in the semi urban and rural areas. We have plans to add another 100 branches by end of March 2024.


HDFC Bank has rapidly expanded its branch network in Karnataka by opening 53 branches in this Financial Year. The Bank expects to add 500 jobs in the stare by the end of FY 23 on a year on year basis
