How Do You Port Your Mobile Number?

Send an SMS to 1900 in this format: PORT <9811981100>. Ensure you do not add prefixes like +91 or 0 and send the SMS from the mobile number you intend to port under the SIM port rules.
Upon successfully sending the SMS, you will receive an 8-digit UPC (Unique Porting Code) from your current mobile operator. This UPC expires in 4 days, but in regions like Jammu & Kashmir, North East, and Assam, it is valid for 30 days. Hence, it is crucial to submit your application to the new operator within this time as per the MNP rules.
Next, either contact your new service provider or visit their office/store. Here, you will need to provide the 8-digit UPC and the necessary supporting documents.
The new operator will then send a request to your current operator to check for any outstanding dues or issues with your number. Following the completion of the verification process, the current operator will inform the new operator of the rejection or approval status of your MNP application.
Within 7 days, your new operator will update you on the status of your MNP application.
Once your MNP application is approved, the new operator will inform you of the time and date for the number porting via SMS.
After completing the MNP formalities, you will receive a confirmation message from your new operator, indicating you can start using their services, adhering to the MNP meaning.
